IDEAL Health DNA Test Kit

Discover what your DNA can tell you about your health and wellbeing

Your deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is unique to you, and it can offer useful insight into some of the inherited traits that influence how your body responds to nutrition, exercise, ageing and other aspects of everyday wellbeing. At Camtech Health, our IDEAL Health DNA Test is our most comprehensive at-home DNA wellness test. It analyses 56 genetic traits across nutrition, fitness, skin and ageing, together with selected genetic risk scores, from a simple saliva sample collected at home. Your results are brought together in a detailed personalised report, with ethnicity taken into account when relevant insights are presented.

What the Test Covers

The IDEAL Health DNA Test looks at selected genetic markers associated with 56 wellness traits across four areas:

  • Nutrition — how your body may respond to different aspects of nutrition and metabolism, giving context to your eating habits and wellness goals
  • Fitness — traits linked to physical performance, to inform how you approach exercise, training and recovery
  • Skin — inherited characteristics to consider alongside your environment, lifestyle and skincare routine
  • Ageing & wellbeing — selected traits that may form part of your broader health picture

The test also includes selected genetic risk scores, which combine information from multiple markers to indicate inherited predisposition within the reporting model used for each score. These are best understood as one piece of information, not a prediction, genetics is only one of many factors that influence wellbeing.1,2,3

Who is This Test for?

This test may suit you if you want a broader understanding of your body across several areas rather than just one, are working towards personal wellness goals, enjoy personalised health information, or want a reference you can revisit over time. Your inherited DNA stays largely stable throughout life, so your report can provide a consistent reference as your lifestyle and priorities change.

Use your results to:

  • better understand selected inherited tendencies
  • explore why certain wellness approaches may suit you differently from someone else
  • add more context to your nutrition, fitness, skin and wellbeing goals
  • have a more informed conversation with a healthcare or wellness professional

Think of your results as another source of information about you, not a set of instructions. If you are looking to investigate symptoms, a medical condition or a strong family history of inherited disease, speak with a healthcare professional about the most appropriate clinical testing.

How the Test Works

  5. Receive your report

Receive your report digitally through the Camtech Health App, typically around three weeks after you return your sample.

Your Results, and How to Use Them

Your results show how the markers analysed compare with the reporting model used for each trait. A higher or lower predisposition describes an inherited tendency within that model, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not determine what will happen to your health. Keep these points in mind:

  • A higher predispositionmeans the markers are associated with a greater inherited tendency for that trait. It does not mean a condition is present or that a future outcome is inevitable, treat it as one area to explore or discuss with a professional.
  • A typical or lower predispositionmeans the markers do not indicate an increased tendency within that model. It does not mean a condition cannot develop or that other health factors do not matter.
  • Lifestyle guidancein your report is information to weigh alongside your own circumstances. Discuss any significant changes to medication, supplements, treatment or prescribed diets with a healthcare professional.

Your personalised report is available digitally through the Camtech Health App.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a medical diagnostic test?

No. It is a genetic wellness test providing information about selected inherited traits, predispositions and genetic risk scores. It cannot diagnose, confirm or exclude a medical condition, tell you whether you will develop a disease, or replace recommended health screening. Continue to follow screening recommendations appropriate to your circumstances.1,2

How many traits does it analyse, and what sample do I need?

It analyses 56 reported genetic traits across nutrition, fitness, skin and ageing, plus selected genetic risk scores. You provide a saliva sample collected at home, no blood draw is required.

How long will the results take, and how do I get them?

Your report is typically available around three weeks after you return your sample and is delivered digitally through the Camtech Health App.

What is a genetic risk score?

It combines information from several genetic markers linked to a trait into an estimate of inherited predisposition within the model used to calculate it. It is not a diagnosis or an assessment of your complete medical risk.

Why does ethnicity matter?

Some genetic risk models perform differently across populations, partly because much genetic research has historically included some ancestry groups more than others. Our reporting takes ethnicity into account, though ethnicity is not identical to genetic ancestry, and no score should be read as a complete prediction of health.4

Can I change my diet, supplements or medication based on the results?

Your report is useful context for everyday wellness choices, but do not start, stop or substantially change prescribed medication, treatment, supplements or a medically prescribed diet based solely on it. Speak with a healthcare professional where appropriate.

Will my results change as I get older?

Your inherited DNA stays largely stable, but your health, lifestyle and environment change over time, so always consider a genetic tendency in the context of your current circumstances.

A higher genetic predisposition does not mean a condition is present or will develop. A lower genetic predisposition does not mean a condition cannot develop. Do not use the results as a substitute for recommended health screening, clinical genetic testing, medical examination, diagnosis or treatment. If you have symptoms, an existing medical condition, a significant family history of disease, concerns about your results or questions about genetic testing for medical purposes, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
